The legacy of one of Kansas’ proudest sons is helping to ensure that the state will benefit from its home-grown talent long into the future.

Long before his death, John L. Weigand, Jr., a Kansas native and lawyer himself, expressed his desire to establish a trust for the benefit of Kansas residents attending law school. His wish was to help educate the state’s finest students who, in turn, would practice law in Kansas for the betterment of its citizens.

When he died on March 22, 2002, Mr. Weigand left his lifetime earnings to establish The J.L. Weigand, Jr. Notre Dame Legal Education Trust, a Wichita based 501(c)3 Operating Foundation.
