Red Shoe Society Wichita (RSS Wichita) provides an opportunity for young professionals between the ages of 21-40 to have fun while making a difference in the lives of sick and injured children by raising awareness for Ronald McDonald House Charities® of Wichita (RMHC Wichita). RMHC Wichita is an independently funded charity that supports children and families at times of great emotional, physical and financial need by providing a place to stay and support for families with hospitalized children. RMHC Wichita has three facilities in Wichita that serve families of sick or injured children, the Ronald McDonald Family Room® in Wesley Medical Center and two Ronald McDonald Houses, one adjacent to Wesley Medical Center and the other near the Via Christi hospital on St. Francis. Last year RMHC Wichita supported over 2400 families. RSS Wichita was created “to engage, empower and inspire young professionals to participate in philanthropic and leadership endeavors and build awareness for RMHC Wichita.”
Dan Lawrence and Sam Foreman are currently serving on the board for RSS Wichita, and are excited about supporting the efforts of RMHC Wichita. Members of RSS Wichita will have opportunities to help volunteer at the Houses, fundraise, and organize events to help raise awareness in the community. RSS Wichita was established late in 2011 and is just now beginning its first membership drive. Now is a great time to get involved in a great group, serving a great cause.
RSS Wichita is a great way to meet the individuals who are becoming the leaders of the Wichita community. The current RSS Wichita board represents some of the best and brightest from employers such as Cargill, Allen Gibbs & Houlik, Intrust Bank, AGCO, Hoover Financial Group, Foulston Siefkin, Greteman Group, Fleeson Gooing, and Klenda Austerman, among others. The annual membership fee is $80.00 a person or $130.00 per couple – $80.00 covers the cost to house a family for one night.
