Weigand Scholars

"I am incredibly proud to have been selected to be a part of the Weigand Family. I hope to represent J.L. Weigand’s legacy well in the Kansas legal community and at Washburn. I look forward to being mentored by fellow Weigand Scholars and mentoring young law students one day."

Katherine is a life-long Kansan who grew up in the Kansas City area. In 2015, she graduated from Emporia State University with a degree in Elementary Education. After college, she returned to Olathe, where she taught first grade for two years. While teaching, she discovered a passion for advocacy, which sparked her decision to attend law school.

At Washburn, Kate is a junior staff writer on the Washburn Law Journal and a representative-at-large on the Washburn Student Bar Association. Kate worked as a summer associate for Spencer Fane LLP in Kansas City, and accepted post-graduate employment with them in their Labor and Employment group.  Outside of school, she loves baking for her friends and family and cheering on the KU Jayhawks.
