According to Senator Pat Roberts, “If the intent of the Weigand scholarship is to support young people who already reflect well on the state and are likely to serve Kansas in the future, I can think of no more appropriate recipient than Caroline Walling.”

“The Weigand Scholarship has meant so much more to me than financial assistance. With an east coast centered resume, I have often found it difficult to convince employers that I am sincere in my commitment to work in Kansas. The Weigand Scholarship has helped me overcome this obstacle.”
