As a student at Kansas State, Chris competed as a member of the speech team, winning three individual national championships in 2000, including the award for the top collegiate public speaker in the nation. Chris then earned a master’s degree in public policy analysis at the University of Denver. During those two years, Chris worked as the press secretary for the Speaker of the House in Colorado and performed research for former Governor Richard Lamm on a recently published book.

While attending Notre Dame, Chris worked as a research assistant for Notre Dame Law Professor Vincent Rougeau in 2005 – 2006.
